Series
This is a fun little animated series that takes me back to my childhood. The story line for the first five episodes can be expected… Batman must battle The Joker, The Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and more to protect Gotham City.
Audio
Equipped with a 2.0 Dolby Digital audio track, this disc sound alright, but not stellar. The surrounds are not touched, and the sound is very mono sounding. This is not a big surprise considering it is a television cartoon series, but some …ctivity throughout the soundstage would have been nice.
Video
The transfer itself was pretty good, but the video content does not let it shine. The animation is so dark, that many sequences are hard to see any detail. This dark coloration is consistent throughout the legacy of Batman, but the presentation here is lacking any detail. The colors seem muted at times, and the overall visual feel of this disc is poor. The transfer is free of most granulation and artifacts, and this is a positive for a dated animated series. The animation itself is quite good for its age, but don’t expect it to look like modern day animation.
Special Features
There are very few special features included on this disc. There is a one minute animation drawing sequence, and a poor interactive Batman game. The menus are still, but scored, and are easy to navigate through.
Final Thoughts
If you are interested in this disc, I would recommend that it only be bought if you are a die-hard fan of the series. The 5 episodes are good in terms of content, but the quality of the disc is lacking.
