Synopsis
John Travolta is a hard-hitting Rolling Stone journalist. He’s so hard-hitting, he gets the idea of doing a story on sports clubs as the singles clubs of the 80s. On the trail of his story (which he’s doing at the same time as he reports on a grand jury investigation), he hooks up with aerobics instructor supreme Jamie Lee Curtis, and … I’m sorry, this is just too silly to continue. Let me put it this way. Remember, back in the 80s, we would look back at the 70s and be glad they were done?…And now we look at the 80s and feel the same way? Here’s why.
Audio
If you groove off the Jermaine Jackson-scored aerobics scenes, then you’ll like the mix, which gives the music pride of place. The sound effects start off with minimal presence, but improve as the film progresses.
Video
The flesh tones are good. The colours are good. Contrasts all working well. There is some grain, but it isn’t too bad. But the picture is fullscreen only. Does Columbia not care any more about the film than anybody else does?
Special Features
Not much: trailers for Perfect (a truly horrible print of the trailer too) and Blind Date. The menu is basic.
Closing Thoughts
I suppose it has something of a curiosity value. But really, “Pointless” would have been a better title.
