Is anybody up for some pizza? I know four sewer-dwelling superheroes who would happily jump at that offer any day of the week. So for this Tuesday (Round Up), we’re excited about the emergence of Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in 4K. Elsewhere, CBS lays down the law with Blue Bloods: Season 6 and marshals in Gunsmoke: Season 12. Finally, Eagle Rock does it ol’ blue eyes’ way with The Frank Sinatra Collection: Part 2.

Summer’s winding down, and the chillier temperatures of fall and winter are just around the corner…well, at least for those of you who live outside of Florida. As we brace for another unseasonably warm autumn — fingers crossed I’m wrong! — UpcomingDiscs HQ will get a blast of wintry air this week. Join us as we bundle up to explore Wonders of the Arctic in 4K courtesy of Shout! Factory, which also dives underwater to explore The Last Reef in 4K. Lionsgate steals from the rich with Marauders, and ABC/Disney undergoes rigorous training at Quantico: Season 1. Finally, Eagle Rock invites us to come sail away with Styx: Live at the Orleans.

Time flies when you’re having as much fun as we are cranking out our patented TV and movie reviews for you. But it still doesn’t move quite as fast as a certain superhero making a long awaited return to home video. Warner Bros taps into the speed force to bring us The Flash: Season 2 and still finds time to go monster hunting with Supernatural: Season 11. CBS/Paramount tries its luck with Friday the 13th: The Complete Series, goes on down to South Park: Season 19, logs on to CSI: Cyber — The Final Season, and devotes brainpower to Limitless: Season 1. Finally, Magnolia Home Entertainment becomes acquainted with The Ones Below, while HBO goes All the Way with its Lyndon B. Johnson TV flick.

Here’s your weekly reminder as we kick off a new month: if you’re shopping for anything on Amazon and you do it through one of our links, it’ll help keep the lights on here at UpcomingDiscs. See ya next week!

As the philosopher Randy Newman once sang, it’s a jungle out there. And this week — thanks to a certain smash-hit, live-action re-imagining of an animated classic — it’s a Jungle at UpcomingDiscs HQ too!  Disney was kind enough to send us The Jungle Book on Blu-ray, which certainly qualifies as more than the bare necessities. (You can already check out our review here.) Warner Bros. hits the mark with Arrow: Season 4 and revels in debauchery with Shameless: Season 6. ABC checks into Grey’s Anatomy: Season 12, while Sony spies on The Night Manager. Finally, CBS heads out west for Season 7 of NCIS: L.A., and gets in our heads with Criminal Minds: Season 11.

The time-hopping team at the center of The CW’s latest superhero hit may come from Tomorrow, but thanks to Warner Bros. you can get caught up with their adventures today! DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1 is just one of the highlights in this week’s Tuesday Round Up. Warner also travels back to the ’70s with The Nice Guys and heads, um, a little further south to introduce is to Lucifer: Season 1. Universal is the fairest of them all thanks to a spiffy 4K edition of The Huntsman: Winter’s War. CBS/Paramount flaunts superstition with NCIS: Season (lucky) 13, and the game is afoot thanks to Elementary: Season 4. Finally, Lionsgate goes mano-a-mano with The Duel, while Anchor Bay bypasses laughs and goes straight for chills with Clown.

The start of the new Fall TV season is still a little more than a month away. That also means it’s about the time of year that UpcomingDiscs HQ gets flooded with titles from the previous small-screen season so everyone can play catch-up before new episodes begin to air. Warner Bros. sinks its teeth into The Vampire Diaries: Season 7, while the villains rise and unleash their wrath on Gotham: Season 2. ABC swans into this week’s Round Up with Once Upon a Time: Season 5. Finally, Showtime turns up the temperature and embarks on The Affair: Season 2.

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s Superman! (Wait a minute, that’s not right…let me grab my glasses and take a closer look.) I stand corrected…it’s actually Supergirl flying into UpcomingDiscs HQ this week! Thanks to Warner Bros., we’ll have a review of the CBS CW action-drama’s freshman season. Meanwhile, CBS/Paramount takes it (Big) Easy for Season 2 of NCIS: New Orleans and gets our hearts racing with Code Black: Season 1.

This week’s Tuesday Round Up has me seeing Red. Don’t get me wrong…I’m not mad at anybody. I’m talking about Raymond “Red “Reddington, the criminal mastermind at the center of The Blacklist. And thanks to Sony, we’ll be checking off a review of The Blacklist: Season 3 very soon. Anchor Bay goes Viral with a new horror thriller, so it’s a good thing Cinemax is letting us check into The Knick: Season 2. Cinedigm saddles up for Traded and keeps the faith with Peter: The Redemption. And while Shout! Factory goes looking for Humpback Whales, Warner Bros. leaves its mark with Blindspot: Season 1 and kitty caper Keanu.

Tuesday Round Up: July 26, 2016

Posted in Tuesday Round Up by John Ceballos on July 26th, 2016

It’s been well over a year since we started this Tuesday Round Up, so I like to think we’re beyond certain formalities. For example, I hope you all know that you’re welcome to stop by our fair site anytime you want. No RSVP necessary. That being said, Drafthouse Films was still kind enough to drop off The Invitation this week. Shout! Factory tumbles down a Hellhole while offering a howling good time with The Boy Who Cried Werewolf. Finally, Lionsgate unleashes the John Travolta actioner I Am Wrath.

One last reminder before signing off for the week (and for July): if you’re shopping for anything on Amazon and you do it through one of our links, it’ll help keep the lights on here at UpcomingDiscs. See ya next week!

Apparently, the multiplex wasn’t quite big enough to contain this year’s momentous clash between Batman and Superman. In fact, the battle between the iconic superheroes has spilled over onto this week’s Round Up. Warner Bros. was kind enough to send us Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice — Ultimate Edition, which includes about 30 minutes of extra footage and a bunch of bonus features. But wait…there’s more! We’re also going to bring you reviews for the movie’s 4K and 3D editions. On top of that, Warner also proved they can count to The 100: Season 3. Finally, Lionsgate arranges The Perfect Match, while Entertainment One sinks its teeth into Bitten: The Final Season.

You probably know what I’m going to say in this space by now: if you’re shopping for anything on Amazon and you do it through one of our links, it’ll help keep the lights on here at UpcomingDiscs. See ya next week!

We’re in the midst of another brutal, life-sapping Florida summer around these parts, so I apologize if this week’s Round Up feels a little dazed and confused. The good news is you can stay indoors and pop in the Blu-ray for Paramount’s Everybody Wants Some, Richard Linklater’s spiritual sequel to his beloved 1993 cult classic. Magnolia Home Entertainment looks back on My Golden Days, while Broad Green Pictures places a bet on The Dark Horse. Shout! Factory goes on a pair of 4K journeys by climbing aboard the Rocky Mountain Express and tracking the Flight of the Butterflies. Finally, Warner Bros. shuffles along with iZombie: Season 2, while Lionsgate lures us into The Green Room.

“Dear diary: the ringing in my ears from last night’s fireworks display in my backyard stopped a few hours ago, so why am I jotting down my thoughts here instead of speaking them aloud?” Apparently, this week’s crop of releases — which includes a pair of Diaries and a set of Tapes — has put me in an introspective mood. Lionsgate focuses on The Adderall Diaries, while Anchor Bay takes the law into its own hands with The Vigilante Diaries. If you’re more of an A/V person, you can just pop in The Levenger Tapes courtesy of Lionsgate, which also operates by a Code of Honor. Finally, Cinedigm finds inspiration in the Bible to tell the story of Joseph & Mary.

It’s officially summer, but you don’t have pack up your car and drag yourself to the beach to catch a wave. Thanks to Magnolia Home Entertainment, you can do that in the comfort of your own living room. We’ll be reviewing The Wave, a Norwegian drama about a scenic town threatened by a tsunami. And if it’s some toned bodies in two-pieces you’re craving, then come on down to the All American Bikini Car Wash! (Heads up…you already have a chance to win a free DVD of this film by clicking here.) Broad Green Pictures shuffles the deck and comes up with the Knight of Cups. And Comedy Central implores us all not to be Workaholics: Season 6…make sure to have some fun in the sun these next few months.

A certain beloved sci-fi franchise is about to boldly go where no Star Trek title has gone before: the world of 4K Ultra HD! 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness make their 4K debuts this week, courtesy of Paramount. The studio also unleashes Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Director’s Cut. In non-Starfleet news, Paramount bunkers down and visits 10 Cloverfield Lane, while Lionsgate takes a bite out of Shark Week: Jawsome Encounters.

Shout! Factory lays its peepers on Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 2. (You can already check out our take on Maude: Season 5, which Shout! was also kind enough to send along.) Vivendi does battle with Bodyguards & Assassins, Entertainment One psyches us out with Altered Minds, and Magnolia Home Entertainment gets Gridlocked during a routine ride along. Finally, HBO follows the wild, off-field lives of a group of Ballers: Season 1.

If there’s something strange…in your neighborhood…who you gonna call?! If you don’t know the answer to that question, you are most definitely *not* a god. You’ve also been living under a rock for more than 30 years, which is how long Ghostbusters has been a bona fide comedy classic. Both the original movie and its sequel that I absolutely enjoy a lot more than I probably should arrive in 4K this week, courtesy of Sony. And those are just two offerings in what is shaping up to be a very busy week, so be sure to check our site early and often.

You can already read our reviews for Paramount’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and HBO’s Steelbook redux of Game of Thrones: Seasons 3 and 4. Shout! Factory blasts off with a Journey to Space (3D & 4K) and has a bloody good time with The Funhouse Massacre, while Magnolia Home Entertainment enlists in A War, and RLJ Entertainment visits Monsterland. Warner Bros. rediscovers its Roots and buddies up to Rizzoli & Isles: Season 6, while Lionsgate engages in some Casual Encounters and repents before The Confirmation. MTV dives into The Shannara Chronicles: Season 1, Adult Swim spends some quality time with Rick and Morty: Season 2, and Comedy Central returns with Kroll Show: Season 3. Finally, HBO travels back to the ’70s to spin some Vinyl: Season 1.

I know the Round Up took a break last week (I missed you too), so here’s your usual reminder before signing off: if you’re shopping for anything on Amazon and you do it through one of our links, it’ll help keep the lights on here at UpcomingDiscs. See ya next week!

I don’t know what we did, but it must have been serious. We UpcomingDiscers are generally a law-abiding bunch, so I’m a little surprised that we’ve apparently landed in such hot water. How else to explain this week’s arrival of the Major Crimes division at our door? Naturally, I’m yanking your chain…none of us here would hurt a fly. The good news is Warner Bros. was still nice enough to send us Major Crimes: Season 4, and we’ll have a review of TNT’s hit cop drama soon. Disney makes a daring rescue with The Finest Hours, while Sony hikes the Appalachian Mountains for Outsiders: Season 1. Finally, have we got a scoop for you…Lou Grant: Season 1 arrives courtesy of Shout! Factory.

Things are about to get spooky in this week’s Round Up. Lionsgate immerses us in the world of The Witch, the spellbinding indie sensation from earlier this year. On the other hand, the studio also gets into raunchy adventures with Dirty Grandpa. Shout! Factory takes the good and takes the bad with The Facts of Life: The Final Season and bursts into song with Cop Rock: The Complete Series. Finally, things line up just right for the arrival of Magnolia Home Entertainment’s time travel drama Synchronicity.

The Fourth of July is still more than a month away, but we don’t feel like waiting that long for the fireworks to start. Thanks to the fine folks at Fox, we’ll be reviewing an out-of-this-world 20th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition of Independence Day. CBS loads up with Have Gun, Will Travel: The Complete Series, lays the law with The Untouchables: The Complete Series, and goes on the hunt with Beauty and the Beast: Season 3. Meanwhile, Paramount laughs it up with The Jim Gaffigan Show: Season 1, and Shout! Factory checks into Newhart: Season 5. Finally, Lionsgate goes searching for Manson’s Lost Girls.

Decisions, decisions. Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it? Star Trek or Star Wars? The Beatles or The Stones? Cake or Death? Best-selling author Nicholas Sparks has made a pretty lucrative career out of romantic push and pulls. Thanks to Lionsgate, the latest big-screen adaptation of Sparks’ work — The Choice — arrives this week. (I’ll be sure to have an extra hankie handy when I review it…just in case.) Liongate was also kind enough to Remember Christopher Plummer’s latest drama. Finally, the studio also scopes out Sniper: Special Ops.

One last thing before we wrap up this Round Up: if you’re shopping for anything on Amazon and you *choose* to do it through one of our links, it’ll help keep the lights on here at UpcomingDiscs. See ya next week!

The film makes its Blu-ray debut this week, so be sure to keep checking our site for the review. Meanwhile, Lionsgate retraces its steps with Backtrack, and Comedy Central bids a warm farewell to Hot in Cleveland: Season 6.

We’ve got a bear of a Round Up for you this week, my friends! Leonard DiCaprio tussled with a vicious grizzly and took home his first Oscar for The Revenant. And now, thanks to Fox, we’ll bring you a Blu-ray review of the hit survival drama. Lionsgate also engages in some gross Misconduct, while Entertainment One seeks safe Haven: The Final Season. HBO plays second fiddle with Veep: Season 4 and innovates in Silicon Valley: Season 2. Comedy Central brings back Daniel Tosh: People Pleaser, while Magnolia Home Entertainment lampoons an iconic magazine/comedy brand with Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead. It’s a shorter Round Up than usual, pardners! But one release we’re reviewing for you this week has one of the longer titles you’re likely to find anywhere. Magnolia Home Entertainment revs up The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun, a French-Belgian thriller/mouthful. Meanwhile, Lionsgate laughs it up with Grace and Frankie: Season One. Finally, Shout! Factory spends some family time with Sisters: Season 4.

Not that long ago, in a theatre that was hopefully not too far, far away from your galaxy home…chances are you settled in to enjoy Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The movie went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S., and this week you can bring the Force home. You can actually already check out our review of Disney’s Blu-ray release for Star Wars, along with our thoughts on Showtime’s House of Lies: Season 4.

Banshee: Season 3, from HBO, is a real scream. Meanwhile, RLJ Entertainment throws us a Curveball and was kind enough not to keep The Hoarder all to itself. Shout! Factory cops to NYPD Blue: Season 9. Finally, Lionsgate starts at the very beginning with The von Trapp Family: A Life of Music and has it made in the shade with Mojave.

There’s plenty of love hate to go around in this week’s Round Up. We’ll be covering the Blu-ray release of The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino’s bloody, brutal Western/Agatha Christie-style thriller. In addition to reviewing the film itself, you can also check out Gino’s chat with delightful Hateful co-star Dana Gourrier. Elsewhere, IndiePix bundles up for The Winter, while Film Detective allows us inside The Red House. Momentum Pictures saddles up for father/son Western Forsaken, while Lionsgate leaves itself Exposed.

Turns out the odds were definitely in our favor. Thanks to Lionsgate, we’ll soon be posting our review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2, the final chapter in the wildly popular dystopian YA saga. The studio was also kind enough to crown us with The Royals: Season 2. Shout! Factory catches up with Maude: Season 4 and takes us to court with the Perry Mason Movie Collection: Volume 5. Meanwhile, All Hell Breaks Loose courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing. Finally, Anchor Bay starts a revolution with Turn — Washington’s Spies: Season 2.
