Contest: Win The Odd Couple (2016) Season 1 From CBS

Posted in Contests by Gino Sassani on April 13th, 2016

First it was Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau. Later it would be Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. An early 1980’s black version featured Ron Glass and Demond Wilson. In 1998 the original pairing of Lemmon and Mathau reprised the roles. Now it’s Thomas Lennon and Matthew Perry. Of course, I’m talking about Felix Unger and Oscar Madison from Neil Simon’s brilliant The Odd Couple. CBS has brought back the popular concept now heading into it’s second season. Before you join the new episodes CBS wants to to catch up on season 1. They’ve given us 5 copies of the complete first season to give away to a handful of Upcomingdiscs readers.

Tuesday Round Up: February 23, 2016

Posted in Contests, Tuesday Round Up by John Ceballos on February 23rd, 2016

The final Tuesday Round Up of February is set to close the month with a bang! Isn’t it funny how things tend to go boom whenever Bruce Willis is around? This week is no exception, as the action legend stars in new thriller Extraction, courtesy of Lionsgate. Speaking of lions, Disney takes its place in the circle of life with The Lion Guard: The Return of the Roar. Finally, Magnolia hits the road in search for laughs in Entertainment.

Of course, this is also your last chance to get some free stuff from our Round Up contest. Once a month we’re going to give away a surprise DVD title from our archives to a lucky winner who comments in our weekly Round-Up posts. All you have to do is comment in a Round-Up post — like this one! — and tell us which of the featured titles you’re most curious to read about. (Quick reminder: You’re not telling us which title you’d like to win; your free DVD will be a surprise.)

The winners and their prizes will be announced the first week of every month right here in our Tuesday Round-Up post. You can’t win if you don’t comment. Contest is open to residents of the U.S and Canada.

Who’s up for mid-week Mass? You don’t even have to put on your Sunday best…in fact, all you have to do is pop in Black Mass, the star-studded Johnny Depp crime drama from Warner Bros. that highlights this week’s Tuesday Round Up. The studio also mines drama from The 33. RLJ Entertainment engages in Criminal Activities, Sony mingles with Saints & Strangers, and Comedy Central yuks it up with Brian Regan: Live From Radio City Music Hall. Cohen Media Group fraternizes with the three-film Taviani Brothers Collection, Lionsgate races to the Wiener Dog Internationals, and Cinedigm eggs us on with Hatched.

HBO joins hands with Togetherness: The Complete First Season and continues its quarter-life crisis with Girls: The Complete Fourth Season. CBS whistles through The Andy Griffith Show: The Complete Series, and tells the story of The Brady Kids: The Complete Animated Series. Finally, Shout! Factory enlists in the two-film McHale’s Navy/McHale’s Navy Joins the Airforce.

Don’t forget that you still have a couple more chances to win free stuff. Once a month we’re going to give away a surprise DVD title from our archives to a lucky winner who comments in our weekly Round-Up posts. Tuesday Round Up: February 9, 2016

Posted in Contests, Tuesday Round Up by John Ceballos on February 9th, 2016

Round Up…Tuesday Round Up. By now, our friendly little weekly post should need no introduction, and neither does a certain super spy who highlights our latest slate of offerings. That would be Bond…James Bond, who returns to action in Fox’s Spectre. This week’s Round Up is also shaping up to be somewhat of a family affair. Lionsgate/CBS Films shows us how to Love the Coopers, which finds four generations of the titular family gathering for the holidays. Meanwhile, Sony pays a visit to Grandma, which stars Lily Tomlin as a scrappy senior. Lionsgate also spies MI-5 and tames Mountain Men: The Rules of the Wild Have Changed. Finally, Dark Sky Films moves heaven and earth with Convergence, while Cinema Epoch exhibits Sociopathia tendencies.

Just so you know, the Denver Broncos aren’t necessarily the only big winners this week. Once a month we’re going to give away a surprise DVD title from our archives to a lucky winner who comments in our weekly Round-Up posts. All you have to do is comment in a Round-Up post — like this one! — and tell us which of the featured titles you’re most curious to read about. Tuesday Round Up: February 2, 2016

Posted in Contests, Tuesday Round Up by John Ceballos on February 2nd, 2016

Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and Dopey…these are just a few of the words I would use to describe my mood over the last couple of months as I bought and moved into my first house. More importantly — and much more famously — those are, of course, a few of the iconic title characters in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which gets a shiny new “Signature Collection” Blu-ray from Disney this week. Cinedigm boards Noah’s Ark, regales us with Extraordinary Tales, and visits Meadowland. Hallmark accepts us For Better or For Worse, and hounds My Boyfriends’ Dogs. HBO comes to the rescue with Show Me a Hero, while Warner Bros. reintroduces us to The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: Season 2 and goes out of this world with Falling Skies: Season 5.

Dreamworks crosses a Bridge of Spies, and Entertainment One pulls an all-nighter with From Dusk Till Dawn: Season 2. Lionsgate charts the Rise of the Krays, battles in a Fight to the Finish, advocates in Freeheld, and breaks the curse of The Last Witch Hunter. Sony cuts to the chase with The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, while RLJ Entertainment celebrates All Hallows’ Eve 2, and lays eyes on The Sin Seer.

As you can see, we have a busy week to kick off February. That reminds me: we have a new Tuesday Round Up winner to congratulate. That would be Peter S, who wins The Hee-Haw Collection: Kornfield Classics on DVD.

You too can be winner like Peter. Once a month we’re going to give away a surprise DVD title from our archives to a lucky winner who comments in our weekly Round-Up posts. All you have to do is comment in a Round-Up post — like this one! — and tell us which of the featured titles you’re most curious to read about. After a *very* welcome vacation last week, I’m off the cruise ship and happy to be back at the UpcomingDiscs ranch. (Although I kinda miss the part where I got to eat all the time and someone else made my bed.) Speaking of returns, Jack’s Back thanks to Shout! Factory, which also takes the good and takes the bad with The Facts of Life: Season 8. Cohen Media Group moves on with The New Girlfriend, Warner Bros. takes Forever: The Complete Series, and Sony finds Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise. Finally, Anchor Bay decodes Da Vinci’s Demons: Season 3.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. In 2016, that last sentence sounds like a spoiler-phobe’s worst nightmare. Fortunately, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is actually the title of Tom Stoppard’s existential, “sideways Shakespeare” comedy, which gets a 25th anniversary Blu-ray release this week courtesy of RLJ Entertainment. Speaking of RLJ, they’ll also be administering our Painkillers. (You can already check out our chat with star Colm Feore.) Hallmark pledges All of My Heart and nods to So You Said Yes. Finally, Shout! Factory scores a 10 with the Bo Derek double feature Bolero/Ghosts Can’t Do It.

Tuesday Round Up: January 5, 2016

Posted in Contests, Tuesday Round Up by John Ceballos on January 5th, 2016

Happy 2016, everybody! We closed last year with a bang — and I’m not just talking about the fireworks above UpcomingDiscs headquarters on New Year’s Eve — and we’re hitting the ground running for our first Tuesday Round Up of 2016. HBO is on the case with True Detective: Season 2. Cinedigm is Full of Grace, plays a Kill Game, offers a horror twist with Little Dead Rotting Hood, and is en pointe with ballet drama Flesh and Bone. Shout! Factory cops to Hill Street Blues: The Final Season, and the studio’s Scream Factory chills us to the bone with The House Where Evil Dwells/Ghost Warrior double feature. Meanwhile, A&E examines more evidence of Ancient Aliens: Season 8.

You can already read our takes on Universal’s The Visit and Green Inferno, along with RLJ Entertainment’s Adulterers and XLrator’s Wrecker. RLJ is also playing fetch with Robo-Dog, while XLrator keeps us at Close Range. Magnolia enters the lab with Experimenter, Green Apple Entertainment shares Susie’s Hope, and Comedy Central gives us a tour of Broad City: Season 2. Finally, Lionsgate takes a trip to Mercury Plains and dives into the Battle for Skyark, while Paramount holds us Captive.

Phew! That’s a lot of options to choose from for our first DVD giveaway of 2016. Before we get to that, let’s offer a hearty congratulations to our December winner: Vicki Wurgler, who won Field of Lost Shoes on DVD.

Vicki is our last Round Up winner of 2015, but you have a chance to seize the first prize for 2016. Once a month we’re going to give away a surprise DVD title from our archives to a lucky winner who comments in our weekly Round-Up posts.
