Not many films of the late 40’s and early 50’s can compete with The Rocking Horse Winner when it comes to pure disturbing atmosphere. Young Paul has a secret that he doesn’t fully understand. By riding his rocking horse until he goes into a trance state, he can “see” the winner of horse races… a skill that is exploited by the family gardener and the boy’s uncle. Paul’s intentions of helping feed his mother’s greed becomes a beast of its own, eventually controlling the boy completely.
