Twenty years ago, there was a mining disaster. The only survivor wreaked bloody revengea year later. Nineteen years later, he seems to be back, and the usual bunch of kids is in trouble.Neat looking killer, cool setting, and some unintentionally hilarious acting and dialogue are theorder of the day. The killings aren’t as graphic, sadly, as some of the publicity stills. The moviewas cut prior to release, and this is still not the restored version. Who know if we’ll ever see...

Synopsis

This is the story of four obnoxious roommates: a hippy, a yuppie, a poseur and a punk. Theygradually demolish their flat and visit violence on each other, all the while yelling at the top oftheir lungs. Though nicely weird at times (check out the talking rats), this often deliberately badcomedy is very much in the acquired taste department.

Audio

Not too much to report here. The TV series was mono, and so is the DVD. It gets the jobdone, and is clea...

Miranda flits between four men, trying to find the right lover and husband (to replace the onewho died in during WWII). And so we move from one nicely dressed set to another, for onebadly dubbed sexual encounter after another. Pretty, but dull.Audio

The sound is mono, and gets off to a rocky start, with a lot of hiss and static in thebackground as the credit music plays. The hiss diminishes afterwards, but you will have to put upwith the dubbing and wildly anachronistic dialogue.

Synopsis

The Masque of the Red Death is one of Corman's most sumptuous Poe pictures. Vincent Price plays the decadent Prince Pospero, presiding over sadistic revels while the plague rages outside his castle walls. The plague, however, is personified here, and has plans for Prospero. In The Premature Burial, Ray Milland is obsessed with the fear that he will be buried alive. Guess what happens? Though not as good as Masque, this film has long been absent from home video, and its appearance here is ver...

Synopsis

Driving through the middle of nowhere, Ben, his daughter KT, and his girlfriend Nicky arrive in a strange little town. It turns out that arriving here is much easier than leaving. And that's all I'm going to tell you, other than to say that, as the title says, Satanism is at work here. Do not read the summary on the DVD's case, which gives absolutely everything away. Hit the film cold, and you'll be impressed by a knockout opening, some truly eerie moments, and a compelling sense of darkness...

Synopsis

Three episodes from the first season, plus the pilot with its opening seconds restored as much as possible. The series is a landmark in television comedy, no doubt there, though, for my tastes, the schtick hasn't aged particularly well.

Audio

The sound is, of course, mono. No too much to say, therefore, except that the mono is crisp and clear, especially on the actual season episodes.

Video

The picture is as good as one could expect,...

”Movin’ on up". The Jeffersons did just that… all the way up to become one of the highest rated and longest running sitcoms in television history. There have been many memorable African-American television characters… but who could forget George and Weezy Jefferson? These characters will live on forever, and this set helps to continue there legacy.

Audio

In 1975, when this series began it illustrious run, surround sound was not even an after-thought. That being said, it is very u...

Synopsis

The second season still shows a strong connection to the Robert Altman film, with the movie's closing credits narration, for instance, still being used, and the first episode still finding it necessary to let us know who the characters are. At the same time, while still following traditional sitcom patterns, the series is also clearly pushing against that envelope.

Audio

The soundtrack is the original mono. The sound reproduction is clear and unmuddied, and th...

Synopsis

Tyrone Power is the intensely irritating American flyboy who flies a delivers a bomber to England to earn some money. Once there, he spots old flame Betty Grable, and enlists in the RAF so he can woo her back. Grable is also being courted by Power's commanding officer, who possesses all the decent qualities Power lacks (i.e. just about everything).

The romance, which central to the film, is not exactly enthralling, since you're rooting for the wrong man. The combat scenes, however,...
