Happy belated Columbus and Thanksgiving Days!
Well, while early HD-DVD adopters were poring over the Batman Begins release, assuming one could be found somewhere in North America, the business of trying to win the hearts and minds of the next-generation home video buyer continued in earnest, with various types of news coming out over the last week.
As far as disc news goes, HBO, which was originally set to release The Sopranos 6th Season on 11/7, has now postponed the release indefin…tely, presumably to coincide for the final stage of the show, due to air early next Spring. Whether or not they’ve CG’ed out the parts of Season Six that sucked really bad or not, I don’t know, but I know how people are about digital editing nowadays.
In other larger release news of curiosity, V for Vendetta will be released to HD-DVD on Halloween Day, along with Excalibur and Under Siege. Blu-Ray fans will also get to enjoy the Steven Segal action pic, along with The Phantom of the Opera, Unforgiven and The Searchers.
Other than that, there’s nothing much more concrete to talk about. In terms of this week’s releases, you’ll see The Break-Up come to HD-DVD, while Dark Water, Gattaca, Glory Road, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Haunted Mansion and The Professionals arrive to Blu-Ray
Another week goes by, high definers, so until next time…what the hell is it that I usually say?
