Miss me?
Well, as the fourth quarter and Xmas get closer and closer, and people start to wait in queue for a Wii and a PS3, things get ramped up for a good week of next-gen DVD releases also. Paramount will be releasing Black Rain on 1/23, and Failure to Launch will come on 2/7. They will be coming to both formats, with presumably identical extras. On the Blu-Ray exclusive side, All the King’s Men will be a day and date release on 12/19, and Kung Fu Hustle a week before that. Son… will also release Winged Migration and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on 1/16.
Aside from the PS3 consumption for all, the other news of note is a loaded release week. The Blu-Ray camp sports the following; ATL, The Last Samurai, Million Dollar Baby, Black Hawk Down, Behind Enemy Lines. Fantastic Four, the Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven, Kiss of the Dragon, Layer Cake, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Omen, Speed, The Transporter and X3 are Blu exclusives, as Fox gets the first wave out to everyone. HD-DVD fans will see Casablanca, Forbidden Planet, Mutiny on the Bounty and separate concerts featuring Chicago, Cream, Heart, James Taylor and the Eagles. HD-DVD exclusives (read: Universal) will drop Waterworld and King Kong on everyone this week as well.
What can I say, it really is that boring this week. So until next time high definers, so set the brightness to low and the resolution to high!
