Well, a week back into the fold (save for a business trip) doesn’t report much new news to speak of. In fact, the most notable news (aside from still poring over the Superman discs) is that the Blu-Ray release of Speed seems to be coming up with some glitches on playback, specifically that it won’t play on the Samsung player. Thankfully, Fox is providing replacement discs (hey, sounds familiar…) to those that are having concerns with it.
Release wise, things are pretty slow for new announcements, as they usually are since they’re focused in the first quarter. Saw III arrives to Blu-Ray players on 1/23 from Sony, who also releases Open Season a week later. And a week after that on 2/6, Glory and The Tailor of Panama come out from the same place. Way to go Sony! And for Fox, Flyboys comes out on 1/30, while Hart’s War and The Marine come out on 2/13.
This week brings another bland to somewhat firm crop of disc releases. Both camps see The Architect, Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story, while Blu-Ray sees Bulletproof Monk, Flight of the Phoenix, From Hell, Rising SunRocky. HD-DVD buyers get Miami Vice as the only exclusive this week.
That’s it for now from me high-definers, so set your brightness to low and your resolution to high!
