Well fret not. Almost everyone involved with the old sci-fi channel mainstay has moved to continue the shows tradition in some way.
First, there’s Rifftrax, created by Mike Nelson the second host of MST3K. Rifftrax is a series of downloadable commentaries for ever growing collection of movies. Each commentary stars Mike himself and usually accompanied by 1-2 guest stars. These stars are usually his fellow comrades Kevin Murphy(2nd Voice of the robot Tom Servo) and Bill Corbett(2nd voice of the robot CROOOOOOOOOW!). Some of the special guest stars have been Sean Patrick Harris(Doogie Hauser) and Fred Willard. Each commentary features the same quality rapid fire puns, insults and meanderings that made MST3K such a hit with movie buffs.

The hitch is that Rifftrax allows these guys to riff on major motion pictures. Here’s just some of the titles available on the site:
The matrix, Star wars episodes 1-3, 300, Transformers(2007), Star trek V VI VII, Roadhouse, Spider-man, Predator
There’s already 50+ titles available. New titles are $3.99 and older ones go for as little as $1.99. For your money you get a .txt file with instructions on how to keep your commentary in sync with your DVD, and the commentary in .mp3 format. All titles support the PAL and NTSC DVD’s. The idea is to play the commentary commentary eitehr on a ipod or on a couple of CD’s. To keep in sync the commentary routinely will say a line of dialogue from the movie. If the dialogue is out sync you just pause the movie or the commentary a bit to resync. They also just released a special PC DVD player that auto syncs th3 commentaries for you. However it has to be done on PC and the official DVD is required for playback. Plus only a few of the current commentaries will support the player (all of the new titles will automatically support it).
The boys also release old-style MST3K fun with their “The Film Crew” line of DVD’s. These are available online and in certain video stores. These have the same B-quality horror and sci-fi movies ready for lampooning.
The Original cast Joel Hogdsen, Trace Beaulieu, and J. Elvis Weinstein are working with Lucasfilm on their own MST3K like DVD releases. I’ll post more info on those once they become known.
