Very excited to see this one. I’m not sure if I consider Iron Man a B-Comic book hero. On the A list, Marvel side, you got Spiderman, Hulk, Wolverine, maybe Captain America, and I’m pretty sure Iron Man fits into that A-list argument as well in my opinion. Hopefully I’ll be able to see it once the crowds quiet down a bit.

    Michael,

To comic book fans (and people who are more in-the-know, pop culturally speaking), Iron Man is certainly not a B-list hero. However, my point was that to the moviegoing masses, who may not know their Marvel/DC from a hole in the ground, he was absolutely a second tier guy (with the top tier being Superman, Batman, the X-Men, Spider Man, The Hulk and, maybe, Captain America) prior to the first movie’s success.

Even if you don’t like crowds, go see this one as soon as you can. It’s a blast! Thanks for the comment.

…let me put it another way: my mom always knew who Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne/Peter Parker were…but before 2008, she had no idea who Tony Stark was.

That all changed thanks to Robert Downey Jr. and Co. (And it’s not just because “Iron Man” finally got the movie treatment…even with all the press Ryan Reynolds got two years ago, she still had no idea what a Hal Jordan was.)
