I think I see your problem. You have this list. It’s a list of people you need/want to buy a Christmas gift for. The trouble is that they’re into home theatre, and you don’t know Star Trek from Star Wars. You couldn’t tell a Wolf Man from a Wolverine. And you always thought that Paranormal Activity was something too kinky to talk about. Fortunately, Upcomingdiscs has come to the rescue every Christmas with our Gift Guide Spotlights. Keep checking back to see more recommendations for your holiday shopping. These gift guides ARE NOT paid advertisements. We take no money to publish them.
Hands down the best gift you can give that home theater expert is the new Oppo UDP-203. It’s exactly what I would have asked for if I didn’t already have one fresh off the manufacturing presses.
UHD Blu-ray is the new 4K disc format. 2016 saw the format debut with players from Philips & Samsung. I’ve gotten to look at both. There is no question that UHD gives you the most dynamic images yet possible on our home theatre screens. But, so far the available players have been wanting. Enter Oppo who refused to release a machine until it met their high expectations. It might have cost them a little in the Christmas shopping season but their reputation was more important than some quick cash. I’ve now had a chance to check it out. You’ll have to wait until January for my comprehensive review. There are a ton of paces I have to put this baby through. My first impressions are all good. You will impress that home video guy or gal by giving them the best in the market. They’ll ask you how you knew this player was so good. Tell them you had a line in on Santa’s tech elf. One warning: They will tend to disappear for hours at a time… maybe days once they get this machine hooked up.
You might imagine that I’m pretty tough on my equipment at Upcomingdiscs’ master theatre “The Reel World”. Our equipment has to handle everything from 24-hour viewing marathons to binge-watching television shows, several seasons in a week. I rely entirely on my Oppo arsenal and I haven’t had one break down yet. Head on over to Oppo Digital now.
