A CNet article from Austrailia explains that PC Blu-Ray drives aren’t able to play Blu-Ray movies released by studios as there aren’t PC video cards or chipsets capable of handling HDCP.
Not good.
Now – Boing Boing and Slashdot appear to have made the inference that the PS3 won’t be able to play them either. Spurious speculation? Or another nail in Sony’s coffin?

Well, doesn’t matter anyways, because I am going to upgrade to an all HD media, including a Blu-ray/HD DVD player.Well, but I am holding off on the movies for a year or so, until they loosen up the copy restrictions on that disc. I can’t stand not being able to copy my movies to the iPod video or backing it up to a secure server.I think that we also need laws as well to protect the enviornment, like preventing content providers from pressing content onto discs. Eventually, I will make the move to a disc-free enviornment. By the way, even though the battle between Blu-ray and HD-DVD, they are quickly going to be obsolete in about 5 years or so.
