What, you were expecting something profound from a short week?
Seriously? Well, for whatever it’s worth, the big news this week is the release of Superman to HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. The Bryan Singer film Superman Returns (which looks like a beaut on HD-DVD), along with the Richard Donner-helmed Superman and Superman II (both of which are also beauts to boot).
In other day and date HD and Blu releases, The Ant Bully hits store shelves this week, and Windtalkers comes …o Blu-Ray this week too. On the HD-DVD front, the remake of The Mummy comes to shelves, along with An American Werewolf in London, the David Lynch directed Dune and the comic tome Meet the Parents.
On the console news front, Sony is apparently still having problems with 1080i presentations on HDTVs that don’t allow 720p screens, but this is all still being hashed out at Sony I’m sure, and a firmware upgrade would follow. Right? Right? It’s not to say that Microsoft is clean as a whistle either, as their movie service has been experiencing the minor glitch or two on movies (granted, their selection isn’t too bad, but still).
I wish I could be more detailed for you guys, but in between the triptophan and Superman song, I’m a little bit overloaded, so until next time high definers, so set the brightness to low and the resolution to high!
