A double crossed drug deal goes bad and two half brothers 20/20 Mike (Laurence Fishburne) and Torch (Titus Welliver) retreat to an abandoned New York warehouse. When Mike calls his friend Tony the Tiger to help them out, tension erupts and not everything is as it seems in this story of loyalty and love. This is a well written, well shot and very well acted film, Titus Welliver is riveting as the dope fiend half brother. Written and Directed by Laurence Fishbourne this film is raw and gripping.

The 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer of is film is reference quality save for one thing. There is a fairly heavy amount of film grit, outside of that the transfer looks flawless, no sign of edge enhancement, rich deep blacks and shadow detail.
Audio
This is a very dialogue driven film and the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track gets this right. Voices are full and natural with no chestiness or sibilance. The front stage is well used as are the surrounds to convey the sounds of the streets in New York. The LFE channel does not come into play very often but is adequate when called on for duty. The film has the option of being viewed with the score only and as Branford Marsalis wrote the score for the film this proved to be an interesting adventure.
Special Features
For extras we have an effective audio commentary conducted by actor/director Laurence Fishburne, and a trailer for the film. Menus are not animated but are scored.
Final Thoughts
If you enjoyed Narc then you will also enjoy this very well done film. Despite the fact that the special features package on the disc is non-existent this is a film well worth owning.
