This is a collection of short stories set in the world of Beauty and the Beast featuring Belle, Beast, Cogsworth, Lumiere and a continuing cast of characters as they explore the castle. With all new songs and all of your favorite characters from the original film this is sure to delight any of the kids in your family.
The film features very good quality cell type animation with an image just short of the quality you would see in one of Disney’s feature animation films. Colors are vibr…nt when they need to be and dull and muted when the beast appears helping to set the tone of some of the stories. There is no noticeable edge enhancements or real problems but, it is not on par with let’s say “The Lion King”.
You have two choices for audio on this disc, both 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks of equal quality. The sound quality is decent but unfortunately there is not much going on, voices are well recorded and easy to understand, the only real problem is a noticeable lack of bass with either the Dolby Digital or DTS tracks. When called for sound effects are well placed and good sounding.
Disney is well known for loading their animation discs with lots of extra features, this one is a bit disappointing. It has a very simple game called Belle’s Delightful Dinner Game as well as something called the Enchanted Environment that you can watch with both music and effects or with music of effects only. There are two different songs that you can listen too, a basic set of weblinks and a ton of previews for upcoming releases.
This is a collection of short stories not a full length film, the stories are decent but, overall this discs is lacking in content a little and we have come to expect more from Disney. The kids will enjoy it the first time but, not the second so this is a renter and not a buyer.
