It was bound to happen sooner or later; Britney Spears would make the jump to the big screen. While most guys would rather she made the jump to Playboy first, others will take what they can get from Ms. Spears. Unfortunately, Crossroads was written as a vehicle for Britney to touch the souls of other young women who can make a difference in the world. When translated to the screen, it just isn’t entertaining. In fact, it’s downright boring.
Britney plays Lucy, a recent high school graduate living under the…pressure of her father who wants her to become everything she doesn’t want to be. Completing a pact from her childhood, Britney and her two ex-friends take off on a cross-country trip in search of different dreams. The rest you can most likely guess as the friends mend their friendship, Britney loses her virginity and all is well on the ranch.
For you guys thinking the rumors of Britney’s topless scene are true, they aren’t. Why would they be true if the disc is rated PG-13?
Audio
The Crossroads soundtrack was not designed to blow you away, nor was it really mixed for a 5.1 channel presentation. I strained my ears to hear anything coming out of the rears or subwoofer the entire movie.
Video
Like most new releases, the video on Crossroads is fairly well done. A tiny bit of edge enhancement exists but the colors are nicely fleshed out, especially in the sunset scene.
Spacial Features
Again, Britney does not get topless in this movie, nor does she in the deleted scenes. There is a deleted scene where she flashes someone but you see it from behind. Other extras include a quick featurette, a how to make a cutoff t-shirt demonstration, a premier feature, couple videos, a sing-a-long, gallery, trailers and commentary track.
Final Thoughts
Unfortunately this movie was a little slow and the rest of the disc couldn’t hold our attention for very long. As Britney matures she will most likely take on more adult roles but for now, only borrow this DVD if you are a big fan of Ms. Spears. I’m sure it’s not her acting you are paying attention to anyways.

Britney is every bit as brilliant as one could expect.
