Hopefully most of you enjoyed my experience of the first Bioshock game a couple of weeks back. Truth is, I’m still playing the first Bioshock, it is getting regular rotation with NBA 2k11 and Lego Rock Band. But, in an attempt to completely confuse myself, I decided to go ahead and tackle the sequel with only paper knowledge of the ending. This should go over as well as my first marriage. With only slightly less bloodshed.

Troma Entertainment has harnessed a young group of Canuck filmmakers who go by the moniker ASTRON-6, and will be debuting their first feature film venture into the realm of bad taste. The film is called Father's Day and the trailer, which is filled to the brim with topless women and bloody, man-and-man rape, is already getting attention online. As well, it seems that Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman simply cannot stop talking about the film, based on the amount of clips available online (google Lloyd or Troma and soon find out).
As much as we may love Lloyd's ramblings, perhaps it is best for these bright and handsome purveyors of R-Rated gold to speak for themselves. I badgered them with numerous e-mails until all but one cracked and gave an interview (the last member presumably driven mad by my journalistic vigilance). Below is the fruits of my efforts:

Most people have figured out by reading my reviews, columns and other assorted passages of bloggery that I'm wired a little bit different. Most people wouldn't have the guts (or foolishness) to write a gaming column for four years on a site that is dominated by movie reviews. Contrary to many other review writers, I am interested in the story rather than the technical specs. It's no wonder that last year's 31 days of Horror, I wrote a rather long review on The Thing without even touching any information about the dvd or blu-ray release.
This Halloween spectacular I decided to go back to my gaming roots. As one might expect, I have a long list of games that I've bought and never touched. Two of those games were Bioshock 1 and 2. Games that are known for their attention to detail and deliver a frightening punch in the storyline. However, I knew in my heart after playing the first Bioshock for about twenty minutes that there was no way I could write a traditional review.

Once again Upcomingdiscs found themselves the guests of Busch Gardens and their annual Halloween event, Howl-O-Scream. Each year the friendly amusement park employees turn in their mandatory smiles and courtesy for chainsaws and scarred flesh. The park's normally pristine nature areas are converted into terrifying scare zones where you'll encounter creatures unfit for the normal Florida sunshine. So once again I put on my Frankenstein shirt, a gift from Sara Karloff (with whom we'll be talking soon for a podcast), and braved the horrible hallways and petrifying pathways of Busch Gardens.
This year the theme is about a rock band that is contaminating the minds of a killer generation. The band is called My X. Tampa has long been recognized as the death-metal capital of the world. This band certainly lives up to the name, if not the music. They have a signature song. Don't worry. You'll get to hear it over and over again if you visit the My X - Revenge Rocks haunted house. This is really the only brand new haunted house experience for the attraction this year. It's set up like a roadside dive where My X is about to put on a concert for the damaged youth. Parents dressed in 1950's straight-laced Bible Belt outfits protest outside of the attraction. They are warning you to stay away with signs that connect the band to deaths. Inside you'll find the typical "jumping out at you" scares. For the featured house, I'll admit that I found it rather disappointing.

There are many movies when you are young that you just never get around to see. Perhaps your parents aren’t into that kind of movie. If it tanked at the box office, then there are probably not any friends that are going to secretly show you the film while their parents are out of the house. But often there are films that we discover in college and wonder where the heck this movie has been all my life. Such brilliance, such deep of thought, this is fantastic. For me, that movie was John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Scary games are kinda like that bad boyfriend or girlfriend you had in high school. You are drawn to them in the beginning, date them a few times and usually have a good time until that one captivating scenario where you are absolutely shocked out of your gourd. Then you stop seeing them but something brings you back because deep inside you actually like it. Scary games follow the same path, you keep playing and playing the game until that big scare and then you stop playing but are drawn back by that very same reason.
So, when the site owner asked me to do a special-themed video game column for the month of October, my mind immediately went to a list of scary games. But where would I start? I could simply tell you that Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp is the scariest game ever and you might believe me. I mean those horses will trample you! Instead, I had to come up with a list that would not only contain some personal choices but also some universally accepted scare games that frightened even the harshest critics.
