I must say that upon learning about the SuperBit Series from Columbia-Tristar, I was very intrigued. I did not know what to really expect… no special features? I must say, that at least for Fifth Element: SuperBit, I am very impressed. Fifth Element was originally released on DVD a few years ago with no special features and very good video and audio quality… similar to the SuperBit ideology. Before I get into this disc, here is a bit about the plot…
Synopsis
“New York cab d…iver Korben Dallas did not mean to be a hero. But he just picked up the kind of fare that only comes along every five thousand years — a perfect beauty, a perfect being, a perfect weapon. Now, together, they must save the world.”
Audio
I cannot say enough about the audio on this disc! I thought the sound on the original release on Fifth Element was great, but this sound is near perfect. I love the inclusion of the DTS track… I am a huge DTS fan. The sound is amazingly clear, with all speakers being used effectively. The base is strong, and the effects are fabulous.
Video
Columbia-Tristar has done wonders with the video quality on this release. I must give them credit… if every SuperBit title looks this good, we are in for a treat with this series. The colors were all brilliant, with no sign of any image enhancements, artifacts, or damage to the print. This video is also near perfection. Amazing!
Features
The one downfall with the SuperBit series is that they include NO special features.
Closing Thoughts
Do not let the fact that this disc contains no special features deter you from buying it. The picture and sound quality are some of the best I have seen, and the film is very entertaining. If you enjoy high quality DVD’s, you will die for this disc!
