”Movin’ on up”. The Jeffersons did just that… all the way up to become one of the highest rated and longest running sitcoms in television history. There have been many memorable African-American television characters… but who could forget George and Weezy Jefferson? These characters will live on forever, and this set helps to continue there legacy.
Audio
In 1975, when this series began it illustrious run, surround sound was not even an after-thought. That being said, it is very u…derstandable for this series to be released in its original mono soundtrack. This series sounds good in terms dialog clarity dialog and is fine for what it is.
Video
Considering the age of this print is over 25 years old… it looks very good. The colors are as to be expected (dull), but the images are clean and free of all debris. This series is obviously presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1, but that is no surprise.
Special Features
As is the case with All in the Family and Sanford & Son, this disc does not included any special features. Not only is this set bare, it also has still and silent menus.
Final Thoughts
This is one wonderful classic television series… and anyone who enjoys it should really own this set. The video is surprisingly good, and the audio is what is expected from a 25+ year old show. Unfortunately no extras are included, but that does not spoil this release.
