Synopsis
Laura San Giacomo’s husband is a serial adulterer, and has just taken off for three weekswith his blonde assistant. Gradually, San Giacomo falls for a handsome stranger (Paul Rhys) shehas started to see regularly in a park. The story of their affair is recounted to a journalist workingon a piece about marriage in the 90s, and so we see it all unfold in a series of flashbacks. Theperformances are good, especially San Giacomo’s, who is appealingly naturalistic. Even thesmalle…t gestures are finely observed and feel right. That said, I can’t help but feel that thisrelationship is a lot more interesting to live through than actually watch.
Audio
The music is nicely romantic and enveloping. The surround sound effects aren’t bad (a partyheld by San Giacomo’s loud upstairs neighbours is very nicely rendered), but are sometimesexaggerated: we shouldn’t be getting San Giacomo’s calculator in full surround. A decent 2.0mix all the same.
Video
The first several minutes of the film are rather rough. Grainy, dirty and soft, the transfer isinitially most unpromising. The image improves considerably, however, becoming quite a bitsharper. The colours are warm and the contrasts are fine. The blacks are deep too. A decentlooking job after the opening scenes, then.

Closing Thoughts
Very nice work from San Giacomo. I just wasn’t swept away by the film itself.
