Synopsis
Albert is not a people person. He doesn’t enjoy his job as a travel agent, doesn’t travelhimself, and doesn’t want to go out. All he wants to do is stay at home and be left alone.Unfortunately, his childhood friend Louis, who was always good at getting him into trouble, breaks out of prison two weeks before his sentence is up, and calls up Albert, dragging himwilly-nilly into After Hours-style misadventures.
Audio
The sound (in a 2.0 mix, from all av…ilable evidence) is solid, but not without some technicalflaws. The music and sound effects have a nice surround presence, and the sense of environment, though low key, is also fairly successful. Every so often, however, there is an odd blip on thesound.
Video
The blacks are good, as are the flesh tones, and the ratio is a 1.85:1 widescreen. The printshows some damage in the early goings, with speckles showing up, but these soon vanish. Thecontrasts are strong, but at times feel a bit harsh (this looks like a characteristic of the originalphotography, however).
Special Features
Very minimal extras: some bios, and a very grainy trailer. The menu has a score that playsthrough once. Another flaw on this disc is that my player, at any rate, couldn’t display the chapternumbers or time elapsed. (Though the DVD did still function fine.)
Closing Thoughts
A very New York movie, which is always fun, though the plot itself is a bit over-familiar.
