Harry Alan Towers, that prolific producer of cheap but handsome exploitation (and the man behind many Jess Franco films back in the day) backed this 1983 effort which attracted some interest (from somewhere, apparently) for featuring French game show hostess Sophie Favier showing off her prizes, as it were. She isn't the lead, though. That happens to be one Jennifer Inch (?!), who plays a young woman dressing as a young boy. She is adopted by a nobleman, who wonders why he's so excited around his young charge. The secret doesn't last long, however, and soon she's carousing with him and sundry partners, while filling him in on her upbringing (which involved much spanking). Once again, as with Black Venus, the film looks better than it has any right to, which helps compensate for the atrocious dubbing.Audio
Overall, this film's mono soundtrack sounds better than does that of its sister release. This isn't to say that there isn't any dialogue distortion, because there is, but it is certainly held to manageable levels. The music is clear. For what it is, and for its age, this track could sound a lot worse. The mix is a bit odd, though. Notice how, in one of the early scenes, a buzzing fly threatens to drown out the dialogue.

Well! The case informs us that "Former Miss Bahamas, Josephine Jacqueline Jones spraked an international firestorm with her debut starring role as Venus." I guess I must have slept through that firestorm. At any rate, this tale, "based on the scandalous story by Honor' de Balzac" (but then, Tower of the Screaming Virgins is "based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas"), is narrated in flashback by an elderly gentlemen who frequents a brothel, and sees the title character there. The film tells of her journeys through decadent 19th-Century society.This is a Harry Alan Towers production, so one expects it to be a low-budget but still handsome-enough (though sleazy) period piece. And that's what we have. The costumes and sets are nice, well above the usual softcore romp. The acting, though, is also what you'd expect, with the lines declaimed from memory rather than actually delivered. And the score is a Hooked On Classics effort that at first adds tone, but then comes off as pretty cheap itself.

Tinto Brass, reigning high priest of the handsomely mounted skin flick, returns with this portmanteau feature. Six couples spice up their sex lives as the women have sex with other people and their menfolk watch/hear about it/join in too.This is the most explicit film from Brass to come out on the Cult Epics label, in that a fair bit of the sex here is not simulated. The tone is consistently cheerful, and there are some quite funny moments. The performers look more like real people than one might expect, and so, all in all, this ain't deep, but it's better than most efforts of its kind.

Cult Epics' series takes a step back in time with this release. The last one took us to the 1950s, and now we go considerably further back. Where to go next I'm not sure, but anyway, this is an interesting collection of antique porn. That this is a French import is obvious not only from the fact that all the films hail from there, but also from the fact that the jacket copy has been rather clumsily translated into English. But never mind. The films, while hardly masterpieces, are fascinating little curios, and it says something that pieces such as "Le Verrou" actually expected their target audience to know who Fragonard was (the starting point of the short is a recreation of the painting of the same name). Also intriguing is an pornographic cartoon from twenties - now that-s something you don't see every day.Audio
As opposed to the running-projector-noise that accompanied the previous release, there is a music score for each film. The sound is mono and quite rough, but to be frank, given what's on display here, stunning surround sound would seem weirdly out of place. At any rate, the job is done quite adequately. "Le Verrou" has a new score (complete with come crackles and pops).

Felicity (Glory Annen) is reaching sexual maturity, but the outlets for her desires at her convent school are limited and not entirely satisfying. She leaves the school for the big bad world, and winds up travelling to Hong Kong where she has one adventure after another.If the concept of an Asian-set sexual coming-of-age sounds familiar, it should, and the movie is honest enough to wear its influences on its sleeve (Felicity is seen reading Emmanuelle and The Story of O). It is what it is. It may not be exactly an unearthed classic, but it is a solidly crafted bit of erotica, very much of its period (1979), and rather interesting precisely for that reason.

Carla (Yuliya Myarchuk) is a Venetian in London, looking for a flat in which she and her boyfriend Matteo can live once he actually arrives there. In the meantime, she has been in London for a month, and he is in Rome, pining for her. Both of them are getting a bit sexually frustrated, but Carla works that issue out with a series of affairs, and for some reason, Matteo seems to have a problem with this.We are once again in the of Tinto Brass' ass-worship and cheerful infedelity. The tone is established by Carla's opening credit stroll through Hyde Park (a walk which Matteo will recreate later to transformative effect), which is depicted as a carnal wonderland. It seems that the Italians see the English as sexually uninhibited. Anyway the sexcapades dance up to the border of, but do not quite cross into, hardcore, and the tone is cheery. It ain't art, exactly, but it is one of Brass' more engaging films.

Synopsis
This is a short (69 minutes), quite elliptical film that traces the arc of a relationship between a young man (Kieran O’Brien) and woman (the pseudonymous Margo Stilley). We see individual moments, usually framed around episodes of lovemaking, and in between we see our couple at rock concerts (and so we get, in their entirety, performances by the likes of Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals and Franz Ferdinand). The whole story is a flashback, with O’Brien in the present, post-relationship, r...flecting on it while he does research in Antarctica.

Cara Loft (geddit?) is enticed by Dr. Scrotus (har!) to complete her dead father’s quest, and travels through desert and jungle in the quest to reunite “the legendary womb idols of creation.” she is shadowed by Natasha, an equally hot-bodied spy who (surprise, surprise) has the hots for her.
I can’t believe a summary was necessary. Anyway, this looks like what would happen if writers of fan fiction were given a camcorder and a travel budget. Lauren Hays can pass visually for Lara Croft, and kudos for a real attempt at creating a sense of exotic locations and sets. As an adventure, this is pretty dull, though. As erotica, it’s even duller. To make things worse, there is an unrated version out there, making this R version completely futile.

After a wild night with a man she just met, Yumi Takigawa enters the convent of St. Clore as an apprentice nun. She hasn’t joined out of religious conviction. Her mother was a nun here, and died under mysterious circumstances when Takigawa was born, and she has come here to find out what really happened. She encounters all the necessary ingredients of a nunsploitation movie: lesbians, a lustful priest, plenty of whippings, lashings of torture, and tons o’ blasphemy
Watching this 1974 film (based on a comic series) is to realize that the terms “over the top”, “blasphemous”, “delirious” and “outrageous” are sorely inadequate. Most films of this kind promise much, but are hopelessly ham-handed in their execution. This is energetically shot, the colours are eye-poppingly sumptuous, the climactic torture sequence (involving our heroine bound naked by thorny vines and whipped with roses) is a jaw-dropper, and there’s even a touch of the supernatural. So is the merciless attack on religion, of a ferocity that one cannot imagine a Western filmmaker getting away with, especially in this day and age. Screen this at a Republican Party convention, and watch half the audience drop dead of a stroke. For connoisseurs of sleaze, you are about to encounter a masterpiece.

Hugo (Mathieu Carrière) sets out on an errand, but is sidetracked in the Paris metro whenhe chances upon the seductive Myriam (Marino Pierro). Their eyes meet, he follow her, theybeing to chat, and a dance of seduction ensues. They make their way through Paris to anapartment where they have sex, and then nothing turns out as Hugo expected.
That’s about it as far as plot is concerned. So what? you ask. You wouldn’t expect anythingmore from an avowedly erotic film. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the rest of the film is anorgy of naked flesh, however. What you have instead is a film so talkative it makes BeforeSunset look like Gerry. In fact, this 1988 effort (director Walerian Borowczyk’s lastto date) has a rather similar structure to the Richard Linklater romance, but plays out to a muchdarker conclusion. The dialogue is surreal and unbelievably ornate, and one’s enjoyment of thefilm lives or dies by how one feels about all this palaver. The subtitles can only translate the gistof the script, but not its style, and the result might well be crashingly dull for non-French-speaking viewers. There are some visual compensations, as Borowczyk, that most obsessivefetishist of inanimate objects, here worships the everyday of Paris, and invites us to look at theleast romantic, most mundane objects in a new light. The sex scene builds to a denouement thatis a remarkable visual moment, and is worth waiting for. Surreal masterpiece or interminable artwank? My own jury’s out, but I’m glad to have had the chance to think about it.
