RLJ Entertainment releases Some Kind Of Hate on November 3rd. Ronen Rubinstein plays a young man who has been bullied most of his life. When he’s sent away to learn to control his anger he unwillingly awakens a sinister spirit who wants to share her bloody gift of revenge. I had the opportunity to talk to Ronen Rubinstein about both Some Kind Of Hate and his upcoming film Condemned. He’s a young actor with plenty of enthusiasm. Archstone Distribution releases Julia in theaters October 23rd. The film stars Ashley C. Williams as the title character Julia. Julia is drugged  and raped. Now she’s out for revenge. If you’re thinking I Spit On Your Grave you need to think again. It’s a character study written and directed by Matthew A. Brown. I had the opportunity to talk with Matthew about the film. 4GOT10 is out this week from Cinedigm. The film channels the spirit of Sergio Leone as the modern Spaghetti Western lives. The film also stars some pretty impressive action stars like Danny Trejo and Dolph Lundgren. Throw in Vivica Fox and Michael Pare and you have a pretty solid low budget ride. The film also stars Johnny Messner in the lead role of Brian. Brian wakes up with a van filled with drugs and money. The feds are on his trail along with a drug lord and a dirty cop. He’s surrounded by dead bodies. The problem? He can’t remember who he is or how he got here. And that’s just the beginning. How do you play that part? If you happen to be a BMX cinema fan you already know who Bill Allen is. He played Clu, the hero in the classic BMX film Rad. It’s been a long time since there’s been a BMX film out there. Now there’s Heroes Of The Dirt and Bill Allen is there. He plays the father of BMX rider Phineas Cooper. While Bill doesn’t ride in this film the experience has inspired him to get back out there on a bike. I had a chance to talk with Bill about his role in both films. Anchor Bay has a new science fiction film out this week. It’s called The Anomaly and it stars everyone’s favorite vampire Ian Somerhalder. It also stars Dr. Who and Star Trek veteran Noel Clarke. Clarke also directed and co-wrote the film about a man who lives life in just under 10 minute segments before everything gets reset. He has to solve a life and death problem before he runs out of time completely. I got to spend over 10 minutes with Clarke and we talked about Dr. Who, Star Trek and his latest film The Anomaly. Anchor Bay is raiding video stores this week with Northmen: A Viking Saga on DVD. The film sports a special cameo by metal rocker Johan Hegg. It was his first film and he’s seems pretty excited about it all. I had the opportunity to talk with him about the film. Fans of his band Amon Amarth know he relishes Vikings history. In August Entertainment One will be releasing 10 Cent Pistol. The film is about two brothers who deal with the L.A. underworld. What better way to make that work than casting two actual brothers in the roles? It’s a great idea, and those two brothers are Damon and JT Alexander. I spent a few minutes on the phone with them both, and it was a great time. We talked about the movie, brothers, and folding your pizza. Want to know what that’s all about? He’s played such diverse characters as Elvis and Ollie North. This time he plays an ethically-challenged doctor. I had a chance to talk to him about his career and his role. He told off Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Most of you remember him as Agent Malone on The Profiler. So what does he do for an encore? He sings Sinatra songs, what else? I’ll tell you what else. He stars in Awaken the new film out from Arc Entertainment. I had a great time talking to the man recently. We talked about Italy and music. Of course, we talked about Awaken. Every science fiction fan knows who David Hewlett is. I’ve been a fan since his first appearance as Dr. Rodney McKay on the original Stargate SG-1. The character was such a memorable one that he became a regular when Stargate: Atlantis was launched. Hewlett is also responsible for the plague that kills off the humans in the new Planet Of The Apes series of films. Now he’s gone behind the camera for Debug out this week on DVD. He wrote and directed the film which stars his old Atlantis buddy Jason Momoa, the future Aquaman. It was a special treat for me last week when I had the opportunity to spend a few minutes on the phone with him. We talked about McKay and the new film. Now you get to listen in on that conversation. Lion Ark is an unusual film. It documents the efforts of Animal Defenders International as they work to save African lions from abuse in traveling circuses in Bolivia. You’ll see undercover footage of the abuse and watch their efforts to get them safe. Tim Phillips and Jan Creamer are at the forefront of this cause. The work didn’t end in Bolivia. Now they’re in Peru rescuing more animals. They took a short break in their work to talk to me about the movie and their efforts. You’ll be amazed at what they have to say. Everybody is talking about the next James Bond movie. It seems we’ve been fascinated by the spy genre since the early 1960’s. AMC has added a new wrinkle to the spy game with Turn: Washington’s Spies. When we say Washington we’re not talking about the city. We’re talking General Washington, George Washington. It’s a revolutionary show about a real-life spy ring from America’s fight for independence. Joining the redcoats is Samuel Roukin. He plays the nasty Captain Simcoe. I had the chance to chat with Samuel and he had some very cool insights into the character and the show. He even reveals a secret about the original fate of Simcoe that you are going to want to hear. James Wilder gets to play a killer screenwriter in 3 Holes And A Smoking Gun. He’s getting quite a bit of recognition for the performance. In addition to snagging the Independent Spirit Award at the upcoming Garden State Film Festival, he also won Best Actor Award at the Winter Film Awards. If you want to know why, you should check out the film. In the meantime, I had a chance to talk to James about it all. You can catch some of his insights before you watch the film. Anchor Bay is releasing Fear Clinic today. It stars Robert Englund and Thomas Dekker. While we didn’t get a chance to have an encounter with Freddy Kruger himself, we did catch up with Thomas Dekker. You might remember him as Picard’s young son in Star Trek: Generations. I loved him as the iconic John Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles television follow-up to the Terminator films. We had a great time talking about all of these cool projects. You won’t want to miss Fear Clinic on Blu-ray or DVD, and you sure won’t want to miss my conversation with Thomas Dekker.
