Lindsay Lohan plays sassy Nancy Drew wanna be Lexy Gold. When one of her teachers goes missing (played by Ian Gomez), Lexy enlists her “hip” friends to help her crack the case. Another vehicle for Lohan. It’s a little boring, and the mystery plays out on the level of a Saved By the Bell episode. The point of the movie is to point out they sassiness of Lohan. She’s sooo hip. Like…totally.
The mix is in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. Not much originality in the mix. Some …ccasional rear effect, mostly musical. The front heavy track is mostly reserved for dialogue, most of which can be heard cleanly. A clear but uninspired track.
Presented in full frame 1.33:1, this video transfer does its job. For a mediocre movie like this, the picture is sharp enough and bright enough. Shimmering can be seen occassionally. The alternate ending, seen in 1.78:1, shows that maybe the whole movie was shot that way. The full frame, then, is a cropped version. Hmmm…that could be the real mystery.
Just an alternate ending of about 20 minutes. Nothing here is different, except the “baddie”.
Only a rental for Lohan fans. To us “laypeople”, a definite pass. Passable audio, video, and features do not warrent any “special consideration”.
