Synopsis

After a freak Ferris wheel accident kills his pregnant wife, Chance (Blair Underwood) istaken in by best friends Michael (Michael Beach) and Lauren (Debbi Morgan), friends whosemarriage is already shaky. The thing is, Chance and Lauren previously had an affair, somethingthat wracks Lauren with guilty, but that Chance is increasingly obsessed with reviving.Gradually, things go from bad to worse. Too gradually, in fact: we’re almost 45 minutes in beforethe thriller angle begi…s to rear its head. Still, the story is character-driven, and bolstered bystrong performances.

Audio

The music and effects in this 2.0 mix are both very strong. The environmental effect is prettyconsistent, and there are some nice front-to-back effects (notably Chance’s wife’s scream as shefalls from the Ferris wheel).

Video

A nice 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, free of pixellation or enhancement halos. Thecontrasts, colours and blacks are all solid, and the picture is sharp. All in all a very solid job.

A basic menu, and trailers for Undisputed, Tangled, Halloween Resurrection and OrdinaryDecent Criminal. Nothing connected to Asunder itself.

Closing Thoughts

Nothing really new here, and the film treads a familiar path too slowly. For all that, youcould still do worse.
