Dragon Tales is a kids television show from the Sesame Workshop and Sony Pictures Television. Kids learn important lessons from the dragon’s and kids about getting along in the following five episodes; Cassie, The Green-eyed Dragon, So Long Solo, Breaking up is Hard To Do, The Grudge won’t Budge and Remember the Pillow Fort.
Audio
Included on this disc is a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track that is not really needed. The audio rarely leaves the center channel never mind the front soundstage. Ot…er then that things are fine, dialogue is easy to understand and the songs sound decent enough for the kids to enjoy them. A Spanish audio track and English subtitles are also included.
Video
There are no real issues with the video form this 1.33:1 transfer, the animation is just somewhat soft and grainy. Colors are overly punchy and bright which adds to the noise in the image by inducing chroma noise. The menus are not animated or scored.
Special Features
For extra features we have the four songs from the five episodes as their own videos are trailers for Stuart Little 2, Kermit’s Swamp Years and Family Fun. Not bad but recent kids films have set the bar much higher for extra features.
Final Thoughts
This is a great collection of stories that will appeal to kids under the age of 5 or 6. The songs and stories will also not drive parents completely insane even after multiple viewings.
