I remember growing up with The A-Team; Mr. T. was the Man… and the originator of true bling-bling. This action series lasted 5 seasons, and was quite entertaining for its time. It does not really meet today’s standards for action & effects, but then again… this series ran in the 80’s. I am very surprised that today, in the day of film remakes of classic television shows, we have yet to see this show make it to the big screen. With The Dukes of Hazard about to get its theatrical debut… can an A…Team film be far behind
Video
The original 1.33:1 aspect ratio that The A-Team – The Complete Second Season is presented in is pretty average. The colors are a bit drab, but that is to be expected considering the content and the age of the print. There is some noticeable grain, as well as some compression artifacts. This release does look a bit better then Season One on DVD, but it is still nothing special.
Audio
As is the case with the video, the audio (Dolby Digital 2.0) comes across very dull and flat. With the high action sequences, there was a great opportunity for the soundstage to be filled with activity… but that is not what we get. The sound movement is unimpressive, but at least the dialog still came across quite clear. I would have liked to see a bit more from this track.
Special Features
This set does include a single extra… an episode from season two of Knight Rider entitled Brother’s Keeper. Odd extra considering that this is an A-Team set, but I guess it is a cross promotion that is better than nothing.
Final Thoughts
Watching this season brought back some nostalgia from my childhood. The show is still fun, but cannot hold as candle to today’s shows. The audio and video both were a big disappointment… but if you are buying this set, it wont be for the quality… it will be simply for the show.
