Synopsis
Meryl Streep copped another Oscar nomination for her performance as Karen Silkwood, low-level employee at an Oklahoma nuclear power plant. She is driven to activism once she realizeshow her life and those of her fellow employees are being endangered by the shoddy safetystandards. Streep is backed up by fine performances from Kurt Russell and Cher, but Nicholstakes his own sweet time with the direction.
Audio
A mono soundtrack, and this is a film fro… 1983, not 1933, but there you go. The sound isclear and serviceable, and granted this is a movie more of dialogue than of sound effects. So thetrack gets the job done, but beyond that, not too much to say.
Video
The aspect is 1.85:1 widescreen, but isn’t anamorphic, with the result that the grain is rathernoticeable if you blow the image up for a 16×9 screen. The blacks are good, and the contrasts arefine. The skin tones, however, veer a bit too strongly into the pink.

Nothing but the trailer, which looks a bit rough.
Closing Thoughts
A bare bones disc, and it is both surprising and disappointing to find the lack of enhancementon the widescreen image on a disc coming from a major studio.
