Most people have figured out by reading my reviews, columns and other assorted passages of bloggery that I'm wired a little bit different. Most people wouldn't have the guts (or foolishness) to write a gaming column for four years on a site that is dominated by movie reviews. Contrary to many other review writers, I am interested in the story rather than the technical specs. It's no wonder that last year's 31 days of Horror, I wrote a rather long review on The Thing without even touching any information about the dvd or blu-ray release.
This Halloween spectacular I decided to go back to my gaming roots. As one might expect, I have a long list of games that I've bought and never touched. Two of those games were Bioshock 1 and 2. Games that are known for their attention to detail and deliver a frightening punch in the storyline. However, I knew in my heart after playing the first Bioshock for about twenty minutes that there was no way I could write a traditional review.

NHL 11 Microtransactions, Pinball Wizards, and Kinect Does Sign Language? - Welcome to the column that is the best in the world at what it does (which is?) known as Dare to Play the Game.
I think I have Lips fever. (It is like cowbell fever but with less clanging) I’ve been playing the Lips games quite a bit. For some reason, I have flashbacks of college when all I did was visit smoky bars and sing songs. But alas, I have over 800 achievement points and now own three Lips microphones, three of the titles and a bunch of the downloadable content.

Bungie Penalizes Ragequitters, Console Corporate Hacking, and Making Your Fable 3 Villager? - Welcome to the column that is the president of Ragejoiners of America known as Dare to Play the Game.
Most of you will be happy to know that I started a new game this week while finishing off some achievements for Marvel vs Capcom 2. As mentioned last week, I finally broke through the barrier and beat the arcade mode with a Street Fighter themed team. Apparently, I found the formula to beating the arcade mode and then repeated the same method to an Avengers, X-Men and even Dark Stalkers team.

Final Fantasy XIV ESRB Rating, Street Fighter X Tekken, and Jailbreaking is okay? - Welcome to the column that will be quite happy when streaking is determined to be socially and legally acceptable known as Dare to Play the Game.
Nothing to report on World of Warcraft this week, because I’m not playing. Yep, the extent of my Warcraft life this week was reading Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden and watching my wife play her Gnome Warrior (tank spec) named Ankletank. It is as funny as it sounds. Kneecaps and toejam beware! In addition, I turned to my 360 for my other source of weekly entertainment.

Alternatives to Split Screen Multiplayer, Plants vs Zombies, and Centipede making a comeback? - Welcome to the column that would like to know what happened to their parachute pants known as Dare to Play the Game.
As of Saturday morning, I am officially done with World of Warcraft until Cataclysm drops. I’m played my priest mostly, completing some last minute heroics which included exalted status with the Kirin Tor as well as enough marks to get an epic neck piece. I actually finished every heroic with the exception of Gundrak and Occulus. The last of which was no loss at all. Yes, boys and girls, flying around on a drake has no business being the main part of a 5 player dungeon.

Ubisoft and 3d, Big Ben in Madden, and 3ds can stop Piracy? - Welcome to the column that thinks you will find them a slasher…of prices known as Dare to Play the Game.
Welp, we are entering the last week of my WoW account until Cataclysm. After that, I’ll either be forced to play on my wife’s account or just cool it down for a while. My dwarf is still progressing, he did finally get the Superior achievement (involves every piece of gear being a certain level) by trading in some Emblems of Triumph for a spiffy helm piece. As reported in previous weeks, his dps is still improving and it is nice to see I’m not being picked on as much.

Eating Farmville, Manute Bol in NBA Jam, and a Call of Duty MMO? - Welcome to the column that caters to hobbits and gnomes who are addicted to Pixy Stix known as Dare to Play the Game.
Well, with a little bit of work I now have a gearscore that exceeds 2000 on my dwarf priest on World of Warcraft. In addition, he reached 5000 gold and purchased his epic flying. Luckily at this point, I still have two hundred gold to my name. Heck, he even raised his jewelcrafting to over 420 which is the requirement for a lot of high end jc recipes.
