Synopsis
The conspiracies are in full swing in this season. There are some very ambitious episodeshere too, notably “Triangle” — a time travel tale shot primarily with very long takes.
Audio
Very, very nice sound. As with most TV shows, the music dominates the surround, but thereare some good contributions from the sound effects as well. The result is an expansive feel to thesound unusual for television productions.
Video
Though there is a …it of grain, the picture is by and large very nice, with excellent colours, contrasts and blacks. The 1.85:1 widescreen presentation of the picture is a very nice touch too, meaning that watching these episodes on DVD will be a significantly different experience formost people.
Special Features
The features available on the screener are pretty sparse: international clips for a couple ofepisodes, cast credits, some ROM features, deleted scenes (for “Biogenesis” and with optionalcommentary by Frank Spotnitz) and commentary by Chris Carter for “Triangle.” Thecommentary is very interesting, but shouldn’t there be a bit more than this on six discs? Notavailable for review are a “The Truth About Season Six” documentary and a behind-the-scenesfeaturette. The menu has a full introduction, but afterwards is still but scored.
Closing Thoughts
Completists will be delighted to pick up this next box set, but might well wish for moreelaborate features.
