Jake’s Booty Call

The web has a way of delivering some of the most interesting material. Flash animation in particular can produce some very funny shorts. Furthermore, these shorts are unedited and can be downloaded by millions of people on a whim. These viral episodes can be played over and over again, with little care to the quality or the content. But what happens when they take that idea and decide to make into a feature length film? In this case, proof that people will download anything.

Jake is the king of poon nanni. He’ll screw anything in a skirt and come back for sloppy seconds. However, Siton is not so lucky in the conquering of young females. In fact, he’s never been fortunate enough to get a girl to sit a top of his knob. One night, Jake uses Siton as his wing man in his quest for more tastes of the forbidden fruit. After Siton fails to close the deal, Jake realizes that this character needs a little more help. We also find out that Siton is actually a prince. Thus begins the journey where Jake and Prince Siton go across the world trying to find beautiful women and more importantly one that gives the prince his first taste of that casual sex.

Ever see what happens when kids get a really fancy graphics editor and are asked to produce a piece of animation? Well I would imagine if the kids were either in puberty or undersexed adults you would get the following eighty minute film. The film is produced in flash animation just like Jake is on the web. However, the jokes get old after about five to ten minutes into it. The pickup lines all sound along the lines of “Nice Shoes…” In addition, for somebody who is looking for something sexy isn’t really going to find that here. It’s bland and to be honest isn’t even all that explicit. Vile and disturbing might be better adjectives.

Video
The film is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen which is a little bit odd for a film like this. The colors are pretty for the most part, however the animation is awful. The animation looks like they took cardboard cut outs and floated them across a black screen. (maybe speeded it up with a computer for effect). Everything feels very stilted. When you capture an image, it looks great; but to watch it is complete torture.

Audio
Audio is presented in a 5.1 and 2.0 English Dolby Digital Surround. The sound is pretty decent, dialog is very clear and even when the scene is in a crowded bar or beach you can hear everybody you are supposed to. Surrounds are used on occasion for various effects that occur. Not a bad vocal track but no subtitles were provided (which could have added to the presentation).

Special Features

• Automatic Trailer: Weirdsville
• Original Storyboards 3:53: Storyboards / Drawings presented along with the original scene on which it played a part. All the still imagery is quite nice, I just wish somebody would have spent more than $1.95 on the animation.
• The Girls of Jake 2:30: Shows the various locales Jake and Siton go to and the girls from that location with captions underneath. So, before Jake and Siton went to these places, they got all the appropriate shots and vaccines right?
• Deleted Scenes: Four deleted scenes, mostly extensions of already existing scenes. Nothing new is presented, just more minutes of my life vanishing before my very eyes.
• Easter Egg: Well since they mentioned an easter egg on the packaging, I thought I would find it and prevent others from accidentally clicking on it. In the bonus features, the lady’s earring will light up. Click to the right and hit enter. Basically it is a tiny video of Jake’s Back, the theme song to the movie. Yeah, or something.

Final Thoughts
Sex in animation can be sometimes wonderful. Like Leisure Suit Larry, a very successful risque series of video games. Something that is funny and thoughtfully animated. Jake’s Booty Call is neither. It is an extremely hard to watch feature film which proves the theory of something that is funny in a mere 5 minutes usually does not have the legs to make it 75 more. Comedy when presented in that length needs to have fresh gags coming from all angles. Jake has one gag and it smells of week old tuna. The DVD doesn’t do any favors either as the video and audio are okay and the extras were a rush job at best. Feel free to mess with Jake on the web, but don’t mess with him on the dvd. He probably has crabs and it doesn’t look like it will clear up anytime soon.
