Thanks for the positive review of our latest dvd, composed of content not available on our website.

In regard to “Little Shop of Horrors”, though: our widescreen presentation is hardly a “distortion that hacks away at the picture”.

A number of internet reviewers seem to be under the mistaken impression that, because previous video editions have been issued in full frame 1:37, that this was the intended screen ratio. In point of fact,90 per cent of films produced after 1954 were intended to be exhibited in widescreen.

Most films not shot with 2:35 anamorphic lenses were photographically composed to be presented in 1:85 theatrical widescreen, which matted off the top and bottom to produce a wide effect while preserving a square-ish 4×3 frame for eventual TV use– where “Little Shop” gained its fame.

This presentation of “Little Shop of Horrors” is the first time the film has been made available on video in the original theatrical ratio for which it was intended.
