Synopsis
George and all his pals return for this second installment in the George of the Jungle Series…
- “When we last saw George, he and his bride Ursula were living in wedded bliss in the peaceful jungle. Unfortunately, all this is about to change. Scheming mother-in-law Beatrice Stanhope is not about to let her daughter and grandson hang around with the klutzy King of the Jungle forever. In an elaborate plot, she teams with Ursula’s obsessive ex-fiancé Lyle to hypnotize Ursula into leavi…g George and turn his jungle to mulch! That’s when all vines lead to Las Vegas. There, George, Ape, Shep and Tookie-tookie must rescue Ursula, and then swing back to save the Jungle from Lyle’s bulldozing bullies. You’ll go ape when these jungle-jesters come together for irresistible all-new family entertainment.” – Disney
Video
We have a decent quality 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer. The image is very sharp but suffers from having over-driven contrast so details starts to get washed out in the bright scenes and blacks are not truly black. Edge enhancement is slightly noticeable in some spots as is some film debris.
Audio
The audio is available as both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. The audio is lively and the pans through the front stage well, the rears are used extensively to the point that they start to feel over used. Bass is average and tends to be somewhat boomy when present.
Special Features
For extras we have the following:
- “Jungle Bungles” blooper real
- Behind-the-scenes featurette
- Deleted scenes with audio commentary
- Vine surfing game
The extras are about as much fun as the film, which is to say that there is not a whole lot here to see. The kids will enjoy the Vine Surfing Game but the rest of them really don’t add anything to the film. Menus are not animated but they are scored.
Final Thoughts
This film demonstrates how far sequels can fall from the original. Just plain bad all over.
