On the heals of the release of Charlie Angels: Full Throttle we have a collection of the five best episodes from season one of the original television show. The five episodes are as follows:
- Angeles in Chains-The Angels discover that the sheriff a, prison authorities and the local County Manager are partners in an extortion-murder scheme in which wealthy young women are arrested and virtually enslaved as prostitutes until they sign over all their assets in exchange for an “early release” and the… they are killed.
- The Séance-The Angels are called in when rich widowers are hypnotized into thinking their deceased spouses still manage their business affairs from the “other side”.
- Dancing in the Dark-Lured by a gigolo, wealthy women studying ballroom dancing are blackmailed for all they are worth.
- Consenting Adults-A computer dating service, fronting for prostitutes and their robber accomplices, starts an underworld war by stealing hot diamonds from a syndicate courier.
- Hellride-Sabrina becomes a race car driver while Kelly, Jill and bosley assume unusual disguises to learn why a pretty woman driver lost control of her car and died ion a flaming wreck. They discover a conspiracy that extends far beyond the race track. Columbia Tristar
Audio
As this is a television show from the 70’s and 80’s the audio is a simple Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. The audio is pretty low key with nothing exciting happening, it sounds like they simply cleaned up the dialogue a little and left it at that. Also included are Spanish subtitles.
Video
As this was a TV show that is more then 20 years old the video quality has been cleaned up very nicely. I am sure that the episodes look better then they ever did on TV. With no transfer artifacts and or film grit just the hair and clothes that made this show in all their glory.
Special Features
A hand full of trailers make-up the special features for this disc, first is the trailer for Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and then a trailer for more coming to DVD old TV series like Starsky and Hutch. The menus are animated and scored and are also easy to find your way around.
Final Thoughts
This release I suspect is part of the hype machine for Full Throttle starting to kick into gear as in the next little while we have this disc, the complete first season and the Superbit release of Charlie’s Angels (2000). This is a good looking disc which really show why this show was such a huge hit and is worth a look
