Dare to Play the Game

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 bugs, No Waggle in the Rock Band Wii and Powerball action - Welcome to the column that keeps scratching even when it should have stopped a long time ago known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. Yes it's World of Warcraft corner with your host, IAMMurloc. Or rather Kedrix (I know Sarah would appreciate that). Up to 33 on my Troll Rogue, 14 on my Dwarf Priest. I'm not sure what I did for most of the week with my characters to be honest. (Because I was going back and forth between WoW and Rainbow Six Vegas 2) But my highlight actually happened when the patch 2.4 hit. More importantly it hit the status of an item I had been holding in my bank for merely cosmetic purposes. Bloody Brass Knuckles which is actually a white item and to be honest, nothing more than "Oooooo, cool". It drops off Vishas in Scarlet Monastery. It's been changed to a superior item or more importantly, a blue with stats. The DPS has increased significantly (making it better than my sword I have currently equipped) and adding a whopping +8 strength. Let the bludgeoning commence!

Multiple Games in MMO's, No More Pro Gaming and Games are Pron - Welcome to the column that thinks Wussy and Nambi Pambi should be submitted as new ratings for the ESRB known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. World of Warcraft, oh how I find thee to confound me. Up to 32 on the Troll Rogue, 12 on the Dwarf Priest. Lantanador, the Rogue is up to a pretty nice 125 gold and I still have purple pants. I make mention of this because my girlfriend Sarah torments me that I still have purple pants (which are a high teen level blue item). I do have new pants at 33, but until I hit that level, she will continue to poke fun at me for having noobie gear. As for my response besides "Ah, blow me" (We won't get into the response to the response), it's about stats I guess. I'm having a hard time finding something better. I don't run a lot of instances (though I did go through a couple this past weekend), so I don't get a lot of blues, especially ones appropriate to my level. Not much of an excuse, I know. The priest is excelling in tailoring and enchanting despite the questing being kept to a minimum. At a level 12, I'm making items that are in the neighborhood of level 15-16 items. At this pace, I'll be well-prepared for later levels.

Sex, Nudity and more things that we wish involved Morgan Webb but doesn't - Welcome to the column that polled five hundred people about their bedroom gaming habits and realized that A)They have to change their sheets often and B)They have to install a bicycle pump by the bed known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. World of Warcraft, I am up to 30 with my Troll Rogue. As mentioned, I also started a Dwarf Priest named Talloween on the Shadow Council server. He is currently level 10 and is a tough but fun character to play. I'm not used to the spell caster types and I have to adjust my playing style to compensate. I am exploring his professions of enchanting and tailoring which are quite the experience. I even took up fishing just to make it a totally different character for me. Of course on the 2nd fish pull, I got a mana potion. I'm surprised it wasn't a boot or an old tire. My girlfriend is helping me a lot with this character which is good. I've done all the leveling myself but she's helped by sending me low level items to disenchant and linen cloth to help my tailoring skills. Plus it is something we can do together which is why I took up WoW in the first place. I like playing with her and sharing the time together. Sometimes it's simply just asking how much to put something in the auction house for. Sometimes it's a difficult quest. But we work well off each other and it's very fortunate and nice to have.

Jack wants to help takeover Take 2, Blu-Ray just not enough and Team Fortress 2 DLC for free - Welcome to the column that can't be any worse than playing video games with a dvd remote known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. In the land of WoW, I am now a level 28 Troll Rogue who is building the big rep so he can get his horse. The undead one. Up to Honored now and spending sometime in the Tarren Mill getting undercity rep and some decent experience. Got both my lockpicking & cooking to 125 which has helped me considerably. During the weekend, I actually picked a couple of locks for other people in game. The 125 cooking let me finally learn expert cooking which took me on the long journey to Desolace and buy an expert cookbook. Currently, I'm still farming big bear steak in Tarren Mill since it's so easy over there but now I have the option to move up to other recipes when I'm through with that. I've also contemplated creating a Dwarf Priest on my girlfriend's server just so 1)I can see what the alliance side is like and 2)get the benefit of my g/f's two high level characters. I'm not looking to power level because my main will still be my lonely rogue but I just want some variety and make the fact that I play with my g/f (albeit on the same account) more meaningful.

The Last Nail on the HD-DVD coffin, Bad people in MMO's and Banks that won't pay the WoW cash cow - Welcome to the column that is like an automatic payment for those pills you have to take because of that trip to Haiti known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. As luck would have it, three more levels and I'm up to level 26 with my Rogue in World of Warcraft. I have discovered poisons this past week since I finished the appropriate quest. I had been lazy in finishing this quest since it involves quite a decent arch. First, I had to go to this guy and salute him, then I had to go pick pocket a key from a goblin who was only a few yards away. Then after killing three separate mobs of everything from patrolmen to mutated drones I get to the top of this tower and face off with a 23rd level elite. I kill him fairly easily. However, he gives me a curse, the Touch of Zanzil. The curse lasts seven days, and keeps me from stealthing and reduces my agility. So I have to go clear across the map to get somebody who will get rid of my curse. While I'm over there, I finish the next rogue quest which takes me to Ravenholdt where I have to go through a cave and escape from a level 33 elite by using my vanish skill. Current plan? I'm taking a break from the exciting life of a rogue and working on some Undercity rep so I can get a skeletal horse even though I'm a Troll. I need the break.

ET: The Urban Myth, Free Quake, and Critics show to be the cheating bastards they are - Welcome to the column that promises not to cheat as long as you don't include the Contra code (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right B, A; ha!) known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. In World of Warcraft this week I have moved up to level 23. 3 levels a week seems to be my number. The highlights of my week had to be actual use of my blacksmithing skill. Before I was just leveling it to level and producing items for auction house or vendor trash. Finally I made something I could use, Bronze Darts and a Pearl Handled Dagger (off-hand). I was originally going to make two pearl daggers but I got a sweet dagger from one of the bosses in Wailing Caverns. I have moved into expert mining but I'm still trying to find my first Iron vein. Now if I could just procure the next first aid manual (maxed out at 150) at a fair price (less than 2g), I'd be set for the next few levels.

The Force is not strong with this one, The NFL extends its deal with the dark side (EA), and Attack of the Genos? - Welcome to the column that has Han Solo underoos and a warrant out for the arrest of Jar-Jar Binks known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. The magic number is 20th, 20th level in World of Warcraft. As mentioned last week, I had a fascination with lockpicking; well that is up to 92 now (still meager I know). However, my new thing; cooking. Yes cooking in a fantasy MMO. I could kill goblins and raptors but I choose to cook some Strider Stew or Boiled Clams. I also have started to collect rare (translation: ones only sold on the Alliance side or not in my immediate area) recipes. Yes, some Crocolisk Steak or Gumbo coming right up. I still can't bring myself to try Fishing, I figure I might fish out a sea monster or something. That and I still have a bad taste in my mouth of fishing from the Breath of Fire games. Bad times, very bad times.

The Devil May Cry over installation, Stop smashing my Poker, and downloading from Xbox Live could make you a winner? - Welcome to the column that thinks that DLC is something you might want to change your pants afterwards known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. Level 17, ding ding ding. Okay so I'm still playing World of Warcraft (I still have a strange inclination to call it Whorecraft, cause I feel like a dirty dirty one). My new toy has to be the lockpicking skill. I already got it up to 62 which I know for non-noobs is nothing but I'm digging it. I'm completely fascinated by the pick-pocketing skill too. I'm starting to get the mindset where I want to walk into something dangerous and get a cool item. Then get the heck out of dodge. But then again, maybe I just want to mine and help noobies out cause I'm that kinda good natured person. Before anybody asks, no I'm not interested in PvP. I'm talking about grabbing something valuable right from under somebody's nose. Alliance that is and for the Horde.

Wii equals gimmick, PS3 overtakes 360, and could a Bear stop piracy? - Welcome to the column that lives in a tiny little farming community called bizzarro world but known to the gaming community as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. Level 13 is the magic number for my Troll Rogue (Lantanador) in WoW. I've spent most of the last week improving my mining & blacksmithing skills. I'm just happy that I can make a Copper Short Sword all by myself. Too bad my rogue uses daggers and other small weapons. I finally started shopping for gear at the auction house which is expensive but does yield some excellent items. But the idea of professions is an interesting one and does give you the feel of doing something more than defeating monsters, solving quests and getting money. I still think they need to lower the price point though. That's the only barrier I can't wrap my head around. Good game, sure. Worth $15 a month, I still don't see it *shrug*.

Xbox is Crack, SNK breaks out the catalog, and Counter-Strike deemed not Brazilian friendly? - Welcome to the column that keeps living in the past as long as it can keep making money in the future known as Dare to Play the Game.

Welcome to another edition of Dare to Play the Game. My new router is going pretty well. Speed has picked up a good deal, however I still feel the pain when I'm doing something at peak hours. WoW is much improved as is the Xbox Live Marketplace. I actually sat down to play a little WoW even though Guild Wars is still my choice of poison. I have a level 11 Troll Rogue(Lantanador/ server: Killrogg if you want to look it up), thanks for asking. I still like my Guild Wars, but I can understand why some WoW players are paying their monthly tithe to play their characters. It's very addicting, thankfully I've learned to control myself due to years of gaming and realizing that each game, while maybe fun isn't the cure to living a rich and full life. Unless that game is the original Metroid or Legend of Zelda. I lived on those.
