On Tuesday, March 29th, 20th Century Fox will release The Black Swan on Blu-ray and DVD. In the meantime, immerse yourself into the world of dreams and reality. The experience morphs depending on the responses chosen, ultimately leading users to “transform” into the White Swan or Black Swan. The result is a tailored piece of visual poetry, an individual’s emoti-poem, that can be shared with others. All the emoti-poems are also housed in the video gallery to create a collective, evolving experience.

Today began the first official day of shooting on the back-to-back Hobbit films.
After years of lawsuits, director changes, studio buy-outs and New Zealand union troubles the films have finally gotten underway.
The same day, the Blu-ray editions of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy finally have a date. On June 28th you’ll be able to own the extended films in a 15 disc set. You can pre-order yours now and lock in the price. You’ll also be doing your part to keep Upcomingdiscs on the net. Just follow the Amazon link underneath the cover art (^).

It’s my great pleasure to welcome the latest addition to the Upcomingdiscs family.
Bob Ross was the Tampa Tribune’s film critic from 1985 to 2007. Before that, he worked as a proofreader, reporter and pop music critic. He also helped manage the first video store in Tampa in the early 1980s. A Florida resident since 1956, he graduated from Ocala High School and Eckerd College, where he majored in political science. A lifelong movie buff, he has published more than 4,000 reviews for the Tribune in addition to writing two weekly video columns and hundreds of entertainment-related feature stories. Now semi-retired, Bob is still a member of the Florida Film Critics Circle. He’s also a Facebook addict, easily reached at www.facebook.com/bob.ross1.
We’re looking forward to having Bob’s wit and wisdom on our pages going forward.

Anyone who is a fan of horror or science fiction knows who Forry Ackerman was. He gave more to the industry than anyone else. He coined the term sci-fi and inspired the likes of Stephen King, John Landis, Steven Spielberg, and many others. He was the editor of Famous Monsters Of Filmland and held the largest collection of movie memorabilia anywhere in his famed Ackermuseum.
I’ve been lucky enough to have counted Uncle Forry as a friend since 1991, when I first visited the Ackermuseum. I’ve spent many hours and meals with him and miss him greatly.
I was invited to write and perform an original song tribute to Forry in January of 2000. It was my honor to perform the piece in front of a room of invited guests with Forry by my side. I was told that the plaque, containing the lyrics, remained one of his prized processions until the day he died, long after most of his collection had been sold.
In honor of Forry, Upcomingdiscs will present our award for the best that horror home video had to offer from one Halloween to the next. I call them 4E based on a keychain Forry once gave me that said “4E 4E remember me with every key”. Upcomingdiscs will remember Forry each and every Halloween with the annual 4E Awards.
This year the selections were made from among the staff here at Upcomingdiscs.
Starting next year, you will be providing us with the nominations and helping us pick winners. To be eligible a film must have been released on home video since last Halloween.

Hopefully most of you enjoyed my experience of the first Bioshock game a couple of weeks back. Truth is, I’m still playing the first Bioshock, it is getting regular rotation with NBA 2k11 and Lego Rock Band. But, in an attempt to completely confuse myself, I decided to go ahead and tackle the sequel with only paper knowledge of the ending. This should go over as well as my first marriage. With only slightly less bloodshed.

Troma Entertainment has harnessed a young group of Canuck filmmakers who go by the moniker ASTRON-6, and will be debuting their first feature film venture into the realm of bad taste. The film is called Father’s Day and the trailer, which is filled to the brim with topless women and bloody, man-and-man rape, is already getting attention online. As well, it seems that Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman simply cannot stop talking about the film, based on the amount of clips available online (google Lloyd or Troma and soon find out).

Most people have figured out by reading my reviews, columns and other assorted passages of bloggery that I’m wired a little bit different. Most people wouldn’t have the guts (or foolishness) to write a gaming column for four years on a site that is dominated by movie reviews. Contrary to many other review writers, I am interested in the story rather than the technical specs. It’s no wonder that last year’s 31 days of Horror, I wrote a rather long review on The Thing without even touching any information about the dvd or blu-ray release.

Once again Upcomingdiscs found themselves the guests of Busch Gardens and their annual Halloween event, Howl-O-Scream. Each year the friendly amusement park employees turn in their mandatory smiles and courtesy for chainsaws and scarred flesh. The park’s normally pristine nature areas are converted into terrifying scare zones where you’ll encounter creatures unfit for the normal Florida sunshine. So once again I put on my Frankenstein shirt, a gift from Sara Karloff (with whom we’ll be talking soon for a podcast), and braved the horrible hallways and petrifying pathways of Busch Gardens.

When I was asked to review this DVD, a smile came across my face. I loved Adam Sandler skits on Saturday Night Live. I was also a fan of some of his earlier movies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore (Though I can’t say I am a fan of Eight Crazy Nights, but everyone has at least one film that they wonder why the person did it later on). I still quote lines from these movies. Yeah, say what you want about that… I still find it and him funny. Go grab a Snack Pack and sit down with me to review The Best of Adam Sandler!
