But a few years ago I’ve finally found a commercial database that does everything I want it to do, and a ton more. I’m talking about Collectorz, and they’ve been helping to organize my film collection for a few years now. We talked about them last Christmas, and I’m here to talk about them again. Shout Factory is becoming the laugh factory, and you’ll find there is no one better at making you laugh than Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. Nearly all of their films have been missing in high definition on Blu-ray. The Universal Classic Monster Collections gave us the Abbott & Costello meet the monsters films, but the rest of the collection has only been available on DVD with poor transfers. Now Shout offers an amazing 28 of the dynamic duo’s films on Blu-ray. It’s an astonishing collection that had me doing back flips when I first heard about it. Paramount has taken the 4k/UHD Blu-ray release to the next level. They are the first studio to really offer franchise sets so that you can watch your favorite film series in a complete collection. Back for it’s updated 7th edition Barron’s brings you the book for the movie collector who has everything. It’s 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This book is a lot of fun as well as being informative. It’s a hefty book that will put some weight under that tree, to be sure.
