Synopsis
An all new adventure for all of your favourite characters form Disney’s Jungle Book. Back for more fun we have Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera and Shere Khan of course, Mowgli has moved out of the jungle and into the village but, he misses his old friends. He soon finds an excuse to wander back into the jungle and quickly finds himself hunted by his old enemy Shere Khan. With all new songs and a couple of new characters the fun continues in The Jungle Book 2.
Video
The t…ansfer for this family friendly 1.66:1 anamorphic film is excellent. There are no transfer artifacts or edge enhancements visible. We also are treated to a very good looking film with colorful and detailed hand painted backgrounds and sharp colorful animation this film is a real treat. Not quite up to the quality of Tarzan but far above average.
Audio
As is the norm for Disney films we have both a Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio tracks. With great new songs that the kids will be singing around the house the audio is on par with the video quality. The rears are used to good effect with the sounds of the jungle, dialogue is easy to understand and bass is full and punchy. Also included is a French language track and English subtitles.
Special Features
As is also typical of most Disney films we have a good selection of special features. The songs are a huge part of this movie, so a good part of the special features showcase the songs. You can listen to all the songs from the film or watch videos for W-I-L-D and Jungle Rhythm, California surf punk band also turn in a video for I wanna be like you. To help your kids learn the words to the songs you can watch the movie with pop up words for all the songs to help them follow along.
Next we have two deleted scenes with introductions by Sharon Morrill and Matt Walker. To help those of us that might not remember the story of the original Jungle Book there is a short synopsis of the original film, there is also a documentary that talks about the influence that the original film had on Disney and the future of animation.
Lastly to keep the kids busy we have a game entitled Mowgli’s Jungle Ruins Maze. The menus are excellent looking animated, scored and easy to navigate. Hats off to Disney for an excellent special features package.
Final Thoughts
This film is a great follow up to the original Jungle Book and when you add in an excellent transfer, great audio and an awesome special features package then this film is a great addition to the Disney catalogue. The story line kicks off right after the end of the first film and is easily very comfortable with great new song s and some fun new characters this is a film that the whole family can enjoy together.
